Nips

My Grandmother really loved her Nips. They aren't a candy that I've ever had a particular affection for, but now they will always remind me of her.

At her memorial service we had little bowls of Nips around the house - she had left us quite the supply. They make me smile to think about, especially displayed in her lovely crystal pieces.

I am happy to have reminders of her all around me daily: the ring on my finger, the furniture about the house, pictures on the wall, dishes in the kitchen. It feels good to have it all so close by.

i felt the same way after mary passed, wanting to have things around that reminded me of her. she had tons of cooking and baking utensils, and even though i had my own it just felt sweeter to use hers. everytime i used the cheese grater, a spatula, a spoon, it brought back memories and a feeling of comfort :)
