Infinite Jest, take four

So ... I never finished Infinite Jest when I started it last summer for "Infinite Summer." That was attempt number three.

Attempt number four was started last month, with the help of a few friends. Is it ironic that to read this book about addiction, I need a support group?

So far, so good, but Nigel has different feelings.

I am really going to finish it this time. I swear.

In the mean time I've read about a dozen other books, the most remarkable being the Tales of the City series by Armistead Maupin. These books are the right combination of funny, sincere, and totally entertaining that I blazed through them very quickly. They're making me itchy to visit San Francisco again, although I know the San Francisco of the 70s and 80s that Maupin writes about is different. The first three books were made in to tv miniseries as well, and I've just begun the first. I love watching young Laura Linney, she's really adorable.
